Sunning Sea Lion
This image was captured at the St. Louis zoo this spring. Most of the sea lions were swimming underwater or moving too quickly to be photographed. This fine specimen, however, was relaxing in the sun – pleased to pose for me with a look of smug satisfaction. If you have ever had the chance to watch these beautiful creatures swim, you know how sleek and graceful they are under water. When they surface, though, you often get a glimpse of their playful side. Too bad humans don’t look this good in the water!
