What A Face!

Mask
I enjoy finding unique patterns in nature, and quite often I see them in fallen trees that are decomposing. This pattern was special, not only because it was interesting, but because it resembled a skeletal face. It reminds me of something to wear for Halloween or a scary African tribal mask. Surprisingly, the “face” is more difficult to see if you turn the image vertically. I chose to enhance the natural coloring of this photograph, as it made the image even more striking.

Now I see that Munch was a plagiarist! The yellowish coloring and the flame like bottom of the photo add to the creepiness.

Well, you know those artist types! It’s not surprising that much of art mimics nature…
If it’s Munch you want to see, take a look at my post “Shrieking Tree” from October!

Thank you! It’s one of my favorites, though when I took the shot, I didn’t realize what I had.
